DUNKWELL

The artist name originally comes from the action of putting a lot of paint by dunking paintbrushes well in the paint. Dunkwell is an artist born in Tokyo, continuing to challenge every BORDER with his free ideas and unique creativity. Art/design, national/international, digital/analogue, past/present/future... The artworks are drawn freely over these invisible "walls" and persisting to bring many smiles to people's faces with positive energy. In 2018, Tag-style text painting with Japanese katakana was first demonstrated in Brooklyn, New York. Katakana is a Japanese syllabary commonly used in digital signage, signboards and advertisements. Dunkwell brilliantly turned Katakana into street-art expressions and this work has drawn people's attention. He is now actively incorporating digital drawings using the iPad and his expressive power is constantly evolving.
